Census 2011 - Latest Results on Geographic Areas

The Central Statistics Office published two further reports in its series of Census 2011 results.  The reports  “Profile 1  Town and Country – Population Distribution and Movements”  and the “Population by Area” volume were published on 26th April 2012 and  examine topics including the geographic distribution of the population, population density and internal migration.

Population of Ireland is 4,588,252

Census 2011 results show that Ireland’s population has continued to grow strongly since 2006, increasing by 348,404 (8.2%) to 4,588,252. The total number of non-Irish nationals has increased by 124,624 persons or 29.7 per cent from 419,733 to 544,357.  See the main results ...
