Census 2027 will take place during April-May 2027. For the first time, people will have the choice to complete their census form online or on paper. Census Field Supervisors (CFS) will be recruited to help run the next census throughout the country. There are 466 positions available.
A large force of temporary field staff will be recruited for Census 2027. The field staff structure will be as follows:
As a Census Field Supervisor, you will be assigned to a census field district. You will report directly to a Census Regional Supervisor who will have approximately 10 Census Field Supervisors in their team, each with their own area. One of your first tasks will be the interviewing and selection of applicants for the Census Field Support Officer roles. Once this recruitment is complete, you will be responsible for the training, supervision and support of your team of 9 -12 Field Support Officers. You will ensure that Census 2027 is carried out in accordance with the instructions issued by Census HQ. You will be the point of contact for your Field Support Officers when it comes to field issues they may need support with, managing queries, and assisting with difficult cases.
You will be based in your home. It will be important to arrange regular meetings with your team. There will be times where you need to call to homes to assist your Field Support Officers in their work, for example, where a householder is refusing to take part. It will be necessary to continually track the census response rates in your assigned field district during the live phase of the census. You will be responsible for progress reports, communicating any challenges and issues to your Census Regional Supervisor, and working with your Census Regional Supervisor/Census Field Support Officer to address these.
You will also have a key role in meeting and working with local and community groups to enlist their help in publicising Census 2027 and promoting participation in it.

The applications will be shortlisted once the competition closes, and shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview.
The rate of pay will be €743.64 weekly. The contract duration is for a period of 20 weeks, from 18 January to 11 June 2027.
